Casein is a milk protein that was first used to makebuttons the early 20th century as an alternative to flammable celluloid buttons. When plastics became widely adopted in the 1960s celluloid was replaced by polyester. We are delighted to offer these to you as an entirely plastic-free range of buttons, in a range of beautiful colours.
